The Unthinkable

Yesterday I got the news that one of our nursing sisters husband passed away in a car accident.

They're a young couple in their late 20s with their whole lives ahead of them. He was a fire-fighter and she was an aspiring nurse to be.

They're barely starting their lives together and what a tragedy this all is.

One of her closest friends said that she'll still continue on and finish the program with us. I think that's so courageous and I can't imagine what she's going through right now.

Life is just so precious and how easy it can be taken away from us with a single turn of events.
This reminds me of what's really important and that all the stuff I rant about, I whine about... is meaningless and trite.

Family is what matters. Our parents.. our children... our husbands.

It's just so sad. May God give her strength in this time of her life.

In diet news, I spent the day cleaning the house and doing my spinbike-weights circuit. Food was somewhat on plan

Today's goals is pretty simple. On plan eating and exercise.

  1. Its always a tragedy when someone dies, and even more so when they are young and its sudden. I can't imagine having the drive to continue with studies if I lost my husband, without him I never would have made it through my degrees.

  2. I get reminded daily how unpredictable life is which is why I want to grab ahold of life now!

I'm so sorry to hear about your friends' sister's husband. I always feel sad when I hear about people being taken before their time.

  3. Girl I hear ya, after reading this and Jewel's blog about people around my age passing away it's horrible. It makes me really think just how much I really am wasting my life away when I should be living it. I think it's part of the reason why I'm risking to try a new job and just go for it instead of grinning and baring the old one and dealing with the move. I think sometimes we forget that life is so precious we really should be out there being healthy mentally and physically and enjoying every aspect of it.

  4. I'm sorry to hear this, Gertie. Gracious, I don't know what's going on this summer, but there's trajic stories such as this happening everywhere here in Atlanta. I was just discussing this with DH the other night, especially to young children this year.

She's much stronger than me. I don't think I could do it and I admire her for trying to continue her studies.
